en Washington 


Caracas, Venezuela – 29 de junio, 2012. El Sr. Jaime Escalona, Director de la Coalición Víctimas de Stanford América Latina (COViSAL) que agrupa a las víctimas latinoamericanas del fraude de Stanford fue invitado a una Cumbre en Washington, D.C., auspiciada por el Departamento de Justicia (DOJ) que se llevará a cabo la primera semana  de agosto del 2012.

“Esta conferencia es extremadamente importante y la invitación a COViSAL para que participe, demuestra que las autoridades estadounidenses reconocen nuestra labor y están interesadas que las víctimas latinoamericanas e internacionales tengan una voz directa en estas discusiones”,  expresó el Director de COViSAL.

El fraude internacional del ex-banquero Allen Stanford, quien ahora está en la cárcel cumpliendo una condena de 110 años, afectó a  más de 21.700 víctimas alrededor del mundo con pérdidas de $7.252 millones de dólares.

“COViSAL se creó con la intención de agrupar a las 15.270 víctimas de América Latina; las cuales representamos el 70,24% del total de las víctimas de Stanford y a las otras 3.065 víctimas internacionales que representan el 14,1%”, dijo Escalona.

La lista de invitados a la Cumbre la conforman: los Liquidadores Conjuntos, representados por Marcus Wide y Hugh Dickson; el US Receiver, representado por Ralph Janvey y Kevin Sadler; el Examinador, representado por John Little; el Comité Oficial de Inversionistas, representados por Peter Morgenstern y una víctima representante; COViSAL, representada por Jaime Escalona; Securities and Exchange Commission, representada por David Reece y DOJ, representada por Frederick Reynolds, Gene Patton and Kondi Kleinman.

“La meta de esta conferencia es lograr una resolución global que ponga fin a las actuales disputas entre las partes alineadas en el Caso Stanford con el objetivo principal de asistir a las víctimas del fraude”, concluyó Escalona.
